Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Business and Finance Lead for Mental Health and Addictions, the incumbent is part of a finance team located at Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC) responsible for the finance and cash transactions of patients of Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC). The incumbent is primarily responsible for processing daily banking transactions in the form of patient trust allocations to SMHC clients. This involves collecting, reviewing, analyzing and reconciling transactions patient banking records in a Patient Trust module (B-Care) in the Clinical Information Management Application (CIMA)on a daily basis and tracking. The incumbent is also responsible for processing new client accounts and terminations, including communicating with clients, staff, and/or trustees to obtain appropriate supporting documentation for audit purposes. Additional responsibilities include other financial analysis, reporting, review, and communication with clients and/or SMHC staff as required.

Experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the last five years in a computerized accounting environment required, preferably within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience with investigating and analyzing accounting and finance problems.
  • Experience in processing payroll and/or cash and banking transactions and reconciliations.
  • Experience performing audit or review procedures.
  • Experience with client-facing customer service.
  • Experience gathering information from many sources for reconciliation purposes.
  • Experience investigating and analyzing issues with follow up performed in a timely manner.
  • Experience prioritizing workflow in a demanding environment.
  • Experience preparing ad hoc reports for various users and providing management information as requested.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Completion of high school education, Manitoba Standards required.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in accounting or finance from a recognized institution is required.
  • Enrolled and actively working towards CPA designation is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and Access) required.
  • Experience in SAP would be an asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills required.
  • Excellent English communication skills both written and oral required.
  • Ability to recognize and investigate problems quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and complete work in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interact well with all levels of staff, patients/patient’s family members and vendors.
