Job description

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our accounting processes. Responsible for a wide range of tasks, the accounting technician works closely with the finance team to maintain precise financial records, process transactions, reconcile accounts, and provide essential support for financial reporting and analysis. With meticulous attention to detail and commitment to upholding accounting standards and procedures, the Accounting Technician is instrumental in facilitating the smooth operation of financial activities. By diligently executing their duties, the accounting technician contributes to the financial health and success of our business.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain accurate financial records by entering and processing accounting transactions into the company’s accounting software.
  • Generate customer invoices, follow up on outstanding receivables, and reconcile customer accounts.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Provide support in preparing financial statements, including balance sheet and income statements.
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and assisting auditors as required.
  • Participate in special projects or initiatives as assigned by the Controller.

Qualifications / Competencies

  • A degree or diploma in accounting/finance is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft D365) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve accounting issues independently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate changes in priorities, procedures, or systems.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical conduct in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
