ST. JAMES-ASSINIBOIA SCHOOL DIVISION

ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

Full-time (100%) TERM position – End date TBD

To oversee and ensure the successful delivery of the Division’s accounts payable and accounting functions including school audits, compilation, consolidation and analysis of divisional financial data.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Supervises Accounts Payable Staff.

· Performs internal audit reviews for school locations and parent council organizations.

· Performs analysis on school fund financial records and prepares financial statements, working papers and reconciliations in accordance with Financial Reporting and Accounting in Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning (FRAME).

· Manages and maintains user access for School Cash Online for the schools in the division.

· Manages and maintains online banking user access for Board Office, maintains signing authorities; processes inter-bank transfers and completes bank reconciliations for the operating, payroll, US dollar, International Education and capital bank accounts.

· Administers project grant funds, submits claims, and completes financial reporting.

· Reviews all cheque registers and supporting documentation.

· Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy and prepares adjusting journal entries as required.

· Reviews and authorizes payrolls and/or assists in the completion of payrolls as required.

· Reviews and authorizes travel advance expenditures and car mileage claims.

· Ensures the secure processing of incoming revenue for bank deposits, verifies deposit accuracy, and supports the processing of bank deposits related to the International Student and Continuing Education Program.

· Assists the finance department with budget development and audit processes.

· Attends various Divisional Committee meetings.

· Assumes other responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance;

· Completion of the CPA PEP two core modules or equivalent;

· Minimum of 2 years related experience in an accounting, finance, or audit role;

· Knowledge of PSAB, CPA Canada Handbook, GAAP, GST and PST regulations;

· Supervisory experience, knowledge of Canadian payroll procedures and FRAME would be considered assets;
