Who You Are

As an Accounting Specialist, your primary responsibility will be the day-to-day ownership of accounts payable and expense processing. You will be a key Finance contact for employees and vendors, ensuring invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time. As part of a small Finance team, you will also provide support with selected reconciliations, month-end activities and other accounting tasks as needed.

You are organized, detail-oriented and comfortable taking ownership of recurring accounting processes. You bring sound judgment, follow issues through to resolution and build strong working relationships with colleagues across the organization.

You are curious about how things work and look for practical ways to improve processes, strengthen controls and make Finance easier to work with. You are adaptable, collaborative and comfortable managing competing priorities and deadlines.

What You Will Do
  • Own full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing, general ledger (GL) coding, purchase order (PO)/contract verification, vendor payments and resolution of invoice or payment issues.
  • Act as a key AP contact for business units and vendors, responding to inquiries and ensuring issues are followed through to resolution.
  • Process staff and corporate expenses, including monthly corporate credit card reconciliations.
  • Support selected account reconciliations, journal entries and month-end/year-end activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable and Finance processes and support other Finance activities as required.
What You Bring
  • 2–5 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting operations, finance or a related role, with hands‑on experience in full-cycle accounts payable and knowledge of journal entries, reconciliations and the general ledger.
  • Strong systems skills, including experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP)/accounting systems and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience preparing and submitting harmonized sales tax remittances and reconciling HST accounts.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization and ability to manage changing priorities and deadlines independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, vendors and colleagues across the organization.
