Job description

The Mullings Group Search Canada is proud to partner with Clark Robinson CPA to bring a talented Accounting Manager to their Vernon-based team.

As a key member of the Vernon team, the Accounting Manager will support small and medium-sized local businesses and individuals with the full-range of accounting and taxation services offered. The Accounting Manager will be integral to the organization as it continues to meet the growing demand of the community.

The successful candidate will leverage exceptional industry knowledge of Canadian taxes, build positive long-term relationships with clients, help assess the needs of business owners and families while recommending value-add services, and be a keen learner willing to grow in other service areas as required. Preference will be given to those who are interested in actively working towards the partnership track.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct, manage and assist with multiple client engagements in the planning, preparation and review of financial statements and corporate tax return reviews for corporate year-ends.
  • Handle day-to-day inquiries and provide solutions for team members and clients to reduce frequent Partner interruptions.
  • Mentor, develop and train junior team members in file preparation and other relevant technical and professional development areas.
  • Collaborate with management to streamline processes and identify areas for improvement and efficiency.
  • Reduce workload for partners and senior managers by deferring client inquiries, client meetings etc. allowing them to focus on higher-level responsibilities.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and ad hoc special projects, as requested.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years progressive work experience in a public firm working with various clients concurrently.
  • CPA Designation and full compliance with CPA requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in Income tax legislation, research and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Financial reporting, Finance, Strategy and governance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, and various tax preparation software/programs.
  • Experience with CCH iFirm, Caseware/Caseview, and Jazzit and various accounting software ie. Sage QBO, QB desktop etc.
  • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • High level of professionalism and courtesy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills combined with ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Works well independently and as a supportive team player working with all departments.
  • Subject to strict confidentiality and privacy rules to protect sensitive financial and personal information.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation.
