Job summary

Oldcastle, a CRH company, is seeking an Accounting Manager for the Oakville, ON area. The role reports to the Director of Finance and covers financial reporting, general ledger, month-end close, SOX support, budgeting and forecasting.

You will oversee fixed assets, leases, balance sheet reconciliations, tax remittances (GST/HST/QST), audits, and lead the staff accountant. CPA or CPA candidate preferred; Bachelor's in accounting and 5+ years in manufacturing/financial accounting are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 5 years in general accounting/finance including budgets, P&L, and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office – especially Excel.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and critical reasoning skills.
• Ability to take the initiative and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Perform timely monthly, quarterly and year-end closings.
• Track and maintain fixed assets and leasing schedules.
• Oversee lease tracking and lease accounting.
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations and monthly reporting are completed accurately and timely.
• Review and approve Sales Tax Remittances (GST/HST/QST).
• Assist in gathering Canadian financial information for tax, transfer pricing and CRA audits.
• Coordinate information requests for internal audits of Canadian operations.
• Manage staff accountant and provide training and development.
• Other duties as needed.

Job Summary

The Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Finance and shares responsibility for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position includes general ledger preparation, financial reporting, support on month-end close procedures, support on SOX compliance, support with budgeting and forecasting.

Job Location

• This role is on-site and is based at our Oakville, ON corporate office.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure

• Assist in the gathering of Canadian financial information to be provided to the Canadian CRH Tax Team for annual income tax returns, transfer pricing determination and CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) audits
• Coordinate information requests relating to internal audits of Canadian based operations
• Manages Staff accountant, providing training and development where necessary
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting/finance areas/cost accounting, including but not limited to budgets, legal compliance, P&L, SFAS Rules in a manufacturing environment
• Manufacturing accounting experience a plus
• Competent in standard cost accounting/manufacturing
• Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees and managers
• Accounting/Finance degree preferred - CPA or CPA candidate
• Proficient in MS Office – especially Excel
• Strong organizational, analysis, problem-solving, and critical reasoning skills
• Ability to take the initiative and work independently

Compensation

• The base salary is $110,000-$130,000 plus an annual bonus
