Job description

Your new company

A well-known mining production company, operating in the US and Canada. Offices are based in the Downtown Vancouver area. Well-established and listed.

Your new role

Prepare financial statements and consolidation (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements).

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable and general ledger.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Maintain and reconcile financial records.
  • Manage the preparation and coordinate statutory tax filings on a timely basis.
  • Staff Supervision and Development :

Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide training.
  • Compliance and Risk Management :

Ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations and internal controls in accordance with SOX.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks. Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and their impact.
  • Coordinate and assist with external audits.
  • Financial Analysis :

Conduct variance analysis on a monthly basis.

  • Work closely with other departments and offices located in Canada, the USA, and South America.
  • Communicate financial information to management and other stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional Certifications : Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of experience in financial reporting for publicly listed companies, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in the mining or resource industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Quickbooks, NetSuite).
  • Good understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
