ROLE OVERVIEW :

The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the financial health and stability of Intercept. Reporting to the Managing Director and collaborating closely with the Fractional CFO, this role is responsible for financial planning, reporting, and operational financial management to ensure fiscal responsibility and support the company’s growth.

This position is also a stepping stone towards a Finance Director role, as the agency continues to grow. Once the candidate has integrated the agency’s financial context, demonstrated strong leadership, and established financial control, they will have the opportunity to evolve into a Finance Director role, taking on greater strategic oversight and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities :

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll coordination.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial policies.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Oversee Accountant and bookkeeper’s day to day responsibilities to ensure financial controls and procedures are executed on a timely basis.

Budgeting & Expense Management

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with company goals and financial sustainability.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, tracking variances and providing insights for cost control.
  • Oversee vendor contracts, procurement processes, and expense management to drive cost efficiencies.
  • Cash Flow & Risk Management

  • Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring financial stability and operational liquidity.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize working capital and mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and collections to maintain strong cashflow.
  • Oversee foreign exchange (FX) management, ensuring efficient handling of multi-currency transactions.
  • Process Improvement & Financial Systems

  • Work with the Managing Director and Fractional CFO to enhance financial processes, reporting tools, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows and introduce automation where possible.
  • Evaluate and implement financial technology solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Fractional CFO on financial strategy, investments, and business performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial strategies with operational goals.
  • Qualifications :

  • Experience : Minimum 5–7 years of experience in financial management, in a service-based or marketing agency environment, with robust financial systems, preferably focused on client projects management vs. long-term retainers.
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA is a plus.
  • Financial Acumen : Deep understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Foreign Exchange (FX) Knowledge : Experience managing multi-currency transactions and mitigating foreign exchange risks.
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Technology Proficiency : Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Excel; experience with AI-driven financial tools is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail : High level of accuracy in financial reporting and compliance.
  • Leadership Skills : Experience leading financial teams or cross-functional collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Problem-Solving Ability : A strategic mindset to navigate challenges and optimize financial performance.
