Our client, an established accounting firm with years of experience, is looking for an Accounting Manager, Tax to join their dynamic team. Located in Hamilton, Ontario, this firm serves privately owned corporations, their shareholders, and non-profit organizations throughout Hamilton and surrounding areas. As a trusted business partner, they provide high-quality accounting services and are seeking a motivated professional to help them continue their success. This role will operate from the Hamilton office.

Overview of the Opportunity :

The Accounting Manager will focus on providing high-quality accounting, assurance, and consulting services for clients.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Prepare engagement deliverables (financial statements, letters, and communications, etc.).
• Review, investigate, and correct accounting and assurance engagement files and financial statements.
• Review of work in progress of assigned staff members. Maintain high-quality control when reviewing work done by other team members; provide feedback to team members.
• Assist with technical accounting issues and act as a point of contact for audit and accounting assistance.
• Prepare / review corporate and personal tax returns.
• Communicate and maintain relationships with clients, Canada Revenue Agency, lawyers, and bankers.
• Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.

Qualifications : Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or related equivalent degree.
• Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in public practice.

Skills and Knowledge

• Advanced accounting, auditing and tax skills.
• Experience with CaseWare, Caseview and TaxPrep considered an asset.
• A team player able to rally resources and work with others to meet the needs of the client.
• Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence.
• Strong interest in coaching and development, with a commitment to personal growth.
• Proven ability to deliver the full cycle of project management accountabilities.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
