Job summary

Socket.dev in Edmonton, on-site, is seeking a data-driven finance professional to strengthen financial reporting, ensure accurate statements, maintain compliance, and support scalable processes across the organization.

You will lead month-end close, prepare income statements and cash flow summaries, analyze variances, bolster internal controls, and partner with Finance, Operations and Supply Chain to align accounting with business needs and budgeting cycles.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in financial reporting or business performance reporting.
  • Degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and BI tools.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Proactive and thorough with a structured approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries in compliance with CRA standards.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and address audit findings.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations & Supply Chain Management to align accounting processes with business needs.
  • Support budgeting processes across corporate, branch, and manufacturing operations.

WhatYou’llBe Doing:

In an Average Week, You Might...
  • Kick off the week by reviewing financial reporting collection,preparationand analysis
  • Lead into the close process by reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Spend time analyzing revenue, cost, and profitability trends across distribution and manufacturing lines
  • Dig into variances and discrepancies,identifyingroot causes and following up with the business
  • Connect with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to align on processes andflag potential risks
  • Support ongoing budgeting and forecasting activities across multiple business units
  • Wrap up the week by preparing leadership reporting packages and delivering insights to support decision-making
What You Bring:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in financial reporting, financial analysis, or business performance reporting
  • Post-secondary education in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Advancedproficiencyin Microsoft Excel and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to financial reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to challenge the status quo and bring forward new perspectives
Bonus Points
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • CPA Designation or working towards
