Job summary

A local employment services organization in Cranbrook is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager. This permanent, full-time in-office position requires oversight of core accounting functions, managing cash flow, and supervising junior staff. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance, 6+ years of accounting experience, and strong people management skills. A CPA designation is preferred and experience in the mining or construction sectors is an asset.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all core accounting functions including financial reporting.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and day-to-day banking.
  • Drive strong internal controls and compliance practices.
  • Manage daily accounting operations including Billing and Cost Accounting.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of junior accounting staff.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • 6+ years proven accounting experience
  • 2+ years proven people management experience
  • Strong experience in full-cycle accounting (AP/AR, month-end close, payroll, internal controls, etc.)
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is a plus
  • Familiar with Sage accounting system
  • Strong competency in Microsoft applications, including Excel
  • Ability to research, understand, and apply accounting guidance and regulations
  • Experience in the mining or construction sector is a strong asset
Duties
  • Oversee all core accounting functions including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, month/year-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, day-to-day banking, and oversee existing and new loan arrangements
  • Drive strong internal controls, compliance practices, and contribute to policy development and audit readiness
  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Project Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of junior accounting staff
