Accounting Manager
VineHR is supporting a dynamic and stable organization that is seeking an Accounting Manager who is ready to take on new challenges and make an impact.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Accounting Manager plays a crucial part overseeing the accounting department. This is a hands on role, ideal for someone with 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience combined with a couple of years in a supervisory capacity. In this role, you will have the opportunity to continue building your skills while also adding value to a growing team!
Responsibilities:
• Oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and accruals
• Lead monthly and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting
• Manage all regulatory compliance and reporting (WCB, CRA, Service Canada, etc.)
• Maintain and champion accounting policies, internal controls, and audit readiness
• Support cash flow analysis and forecasting
• Develop and maintain project cost tracking; identify variances and recommend improvements
• Ensure accurate, organized, and compliant accounting records
• Monitor overhead expenses and recommend cost-saving strategies
• Lead, mentor, and develop a growing accounting team
• Input and maintain project budgets for real-time tracking and forecasting
• Act as ERP power user: manage access, cost codes, and project setup
• Lead implementation and oversight of the purchase order process
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with 5+ years of relevant experience. Having strong leadership experience and the ability to collaborate across departments is essential!
• Post-secondary education in a relevant field. A recognized accounting designation or working towards one is considered an asset but it's not a requirement.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with mid-market ERP (Acumatica preferred, Sage 100, Viewpoint, etc.)
• Strong understanding of construction/project accounting is as asset
• Proven ability to coach and develop junior staff
Compensation & Work Arrangement
• A comprehensive total compensation package is offered with a salary in the range of $80,000 - 100,000 per year depending on experience.
