Job summary

Coast Mental Health in Vancouver, BC is seeking a detail-oriented accounting assistant to review and update our accounting and payroll processes and procedures. This role supports the Controller and requires familiarity with accounts receivable, accounts payable, rent collection, and bank reconciliation workflows.

Ideal candidates have completed the first year of an accounting program and can obtain WHMIS certification and a criminal record clearance.

Qualifications

  • Ideally, you have completed the 1st year of a recognized Accounting Program.
  • Ability to provide or obtain:
  • - WHIMIS certification
  • - Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Review and update accounting and payroll processes and procedures.
  • Compile and update accounting and payroll related procedures manuals.
  • Assist and review accounts receivable, rent collection, trust disbursements, account opening/closing, fees, and bank reconciliation processes; update manuals.
  • Assist and review accounts payable processes; update manuals.
  • Assist and review cash and cheque deposits; update manuals.
  • Assist, review and update accounting standard operating procedures.

Schedule: Mondays to Fridays - 8am to 4pm
Start Date: As soon as possible.
Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Controller, this position is responsible for reviewing and updating accounting and payroll processes and procedures.

Typical Duties:
  • Compile all accounting and payroll related procedures and highlight them for review and updates.
  • Assist and review the accounts receivable process and update the process manuals.
  • Assist and review the rent collection process and update the process manuals.
  • Assist and review the trust disbursements, account opening/closing, fees collection and bank reconciliation processes and update the process manuals.
  • Assist and review the accounts payable process and update the process manuals.
  • Assist and review the cash and cheques deposits process and update the process manuals.
  • Assist, review and update the accounting standard operating procedures.
  • Assists in ad-hoc tasks when assigned.
Job Qualifications:

Ideally, you have completed the 1st year of a recognized Accounting Program.

Ability to provide or obtain:

-WHIMIS certification

-Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance
