Job summary

Coast Mental Health in Coquitlam, BC, is hiring for a casual, part-time Front-Line Outreach & Mental Health Worker. The role supports daily living activities, medication administration, and resident engagement within transitional housing programs.

Shifts are on an as-needed basis under a collective agreement. The position requires a Diploma in Community Social Service and related experience, with client-centered, recovery-oriented practice.

Qualifications

• Diploma required in Community Social Service or equivalent
• Two years of related experience or equivalent education/training
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's license or equivalent
• Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Criminal Record Clearance, TB clearance, and Foodsafe upon hire

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily home programs: cooking, cleaning, and maintenance.
• Engage residents in daily life skills activities.
• Administer medications per program guidelines.
• Support residents in accessing community resources and services.
• Work within psychosocial rehabilitation principles.

Status: Casual

This is a casual position. As such, there is no specific or guaranteed schedule associated with the position. Shifts are offered on an as-needed basis, in accordance with operational requirements and the applicable Collective Agreement. Employees may be contacted to fill available shifts based on their availability and operational needs.

Range: $33.49 - $35.31

Location: Riverview, Coquitlam

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Cottage/Transitional Housing Program, in a manner consistent with the Coast’s mission, philosophy, policies and objectives, the position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the home programs such as cooking, cleaning, maintenance tasks by engaging the residents in daily life skills activities, medication administration all based on the psycho social rehabilitation principles. You will further identify and support residents to access community resources and services.

Job Qualifications

• Diploma in Community Social Service
• Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
• A valid B.C Class 5 Driver’s license
• Ability to obtain the following upon hire:
  • Certificates in First Aid + CPR
  • WHMIS
  • Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance
  • TB Clearance (done within past 6 months)
  • Foodsafe
