Title: Accounting Clerk II - Cashier (Part Time)

The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve an efficient operation in the Finance Department through reliable performance in cashiering, reconciling accounts and general accounting functions, accounting machine and computer operations, observing and complying with municipal policies and ensuring the safety and security of confidential material/matters pertaining to the Department's operation.
The incumbent shall have the overall responsibility for all cashiering functions including:
The incumbent will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective relationship with the public; providing assistance and information to the public over the telephone and at the receptionist counter on matters pertaining to the department's area of responsibility. As directed, the incumbent will be responsible for the training and supervising of casual employees assigned to the cashiering function. The incumbent will also provide assistance to the other functions of the Finance Department and perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments and responsibilities are performed under general supervision in accordance with established routine and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Manager of Revenue Services/Collector.
Must have a grade 12 education supplemented by bookkeeping and commercial courses and formal training or experience with computerized accounting and cash registers - OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
