Job description

Thurber has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Clerk to join our Corporate Accounting team in Calgary, Alberta.

Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment and construction materials.

The Opportunity

This is not a position in financial accounting. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for the overall process of monthly project management billing, using software that tracks and allocates employee work hours per project, client profiles, payment tracking and system reporting and management.

This role is part of our National Corporate Accounting Team and is based in Calgary, Alberta. Our Calgary branch will be a key client for this role; however, this role will also provide support to other branches from time to time. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Project setup and approval
  • Project billing
  • Invoice processing
  • Expense report review and approval
  • Reconciliation of corporate Visas
  • Gas account reconciliation
  • Fleet vehicle km tracking
  • Branch reporting and circulation to Project Managers and/or Branch Managers

What you bring

  • Minimum two years of project accounting experience, using accounting/project software
  • Experience with monthly billing cycles

  • Administer Project Approval/Setup
  • Manage Monthly Billings Process (Including Pre-Bills)
  • Administer Accounts Payable (vouchers) in BST10 (Invoices)
  • Handle Accounts Receivable
  • Prepare Cheques
  • Ensure Contractor Timesheet Completion
  • Administer Expense Reports
  • Monitor and Reconcile Fleet Fuel Invoices
  • Oversee Inactive Projects
  • Track Vehicle KMs
  • Track Monthly Unit Entries
  • Other duties as requested.
