At Sandvik, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the company’s financial operations through account reconciliations, variance analysis, and forecasting support. This position plays a key role in preparing internal and external working papers, supporting audits. The Accounting Clerk ensures compliance with accounting standards and contributes to system and process improvements that enhance financial visibility and accountability.

What you will be doing

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare variance reports, and investigate deviations
  • Support with Month End/Year End closing tasks
  • Support with quarterly forecasting processes
  • Preparation of VAT returns and supporting ad hoc tax queries
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and GAAP/IFRS accounting standards
  • Participate in ad hoc financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and maintain high standards of data accuracy
  • Function as back-up for other roles within the Finance organization.
  • Support and assist junior members of the team and act as a go-to for support across the team
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and variance analysis
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interpret financial results and provide actionable insights
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and with external organizations.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or working towards designation is preferred
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial reporting or general accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Syspro ERP system would be an asset.
  • Experience with financial reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Workiva, Onestream) is an asset
  • Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and internal control standards.
