Base pay range

CA$50,000.00 / yr - CA$65,000.00 / yr

For us, building and selling homes is more than a transaction. We do it all for that feeling—the moment you open the door for the first time and know, deep down, that you're home.

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting / Controller, the Accounting Clerk ("AC") is a key part of Abstract's Accounting and Finance team. The AC handles detailed AP and AR transactions, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with contracts.

  • Processing, verifying, and obtaining approval for invoices related to accounts payable
  • Supporting Project Accountants by matching purchase orders, subcontracts, and packing slips to invoices, ensuring approval requirements are met
  • Reconciling AP invoices with the schedule of values
  • Completing subcontractor holdback releases according to policy
  • Reconciling vendor accounts and statements to investigate discrepancies
  • Reconciling bank accounts and credit cards monthly
  • Preparing cheques and ensuring timely vendor payments
  • Preparing and posting cash receipts and accruals
  • Handling bank deposits, ledger postings, and statements
  • Researching and resolving accounting discrepancies
  • Managing employee expense reimbursements
  • Updating property assessment and tax records
  • Assisting with payroll procedures as needed
  • Performing ad hoc duties as assigned by the Controller
  • Liaising with project teams, vendors, and staff
  • Supporting organizational teams as required

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes :

  • Ideally two (2) years of related experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices
  • Willingness to learn payroll processing or experience in it
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong work ethic, responsibility, and confidentiality
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word)
  • Basic understanding of project contractual terms
  • Experience with Jonas Premier accounting software preferred
