Hanford Lumber Ltd. is hiring an Accounting Clerk to support our expanding operations. As part of our team, you will play a key role in financial reporting, accounts payable / receivable, and payroll support, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting processes. If you have strong accounting skills, experience with Microsoft Office and financial software, and a keen eye for detail, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closings, including preparing financial schedules and reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Process government remittances (HST / GST, WSIB, etc.) and assist in year-end audit preparation.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process and enter accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy with purchase orders and delivery slips.
  • Prepare weekly cheque runs and ensure invoices are paid on time.
  • Manage customer collections, follow up on overdue accounts, and maintain collection call logs.
  • Process credit applications and open new accounts upon CFO approval.

Banking & Cash Management

  • Perform bank reconciliations and ensure timely deposits of cash receipts.
  • Oversee petty cash and maintain accurate records.

Payroll & Office Administration

  • Assist in payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Order and manage office supplies at cost-effective pricing.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • 3+ years of accounting experience (required).
  • 1+ year of bookkeeping experience (preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills for handling collections and vendor inquiries.
