Job Opportunity: General Accounting Assistant
Location: Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6B 4T6
Pay Rate: $62K – $72K per annum, With Benefits
Shift: M-F, 9 AM – 5 PM.
Job Summary:
- Occasional supervision of accounting staff members.
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of accounts receivable progress billings based upon specific contract terms.
- Review accounts receivable, aging reports and assist with direct reports for collections.
- Supervise the payment process to vendors and subcontractors and confirm lien waivers are properly collected.
- Monitor daily cash balances to ensure requirements are met.
- Bank reconciliations, fleet finance management and administrative functions.
- Review and monitor the preparation of the weekly payroll for union and non-union employees including the timely submission of monthly reports.
- Manage IT-related issues.
- Perform special assignments as directed by the ownership, VP of Finance and President.
- Create budgets with ownership and manage budgets to ensure fiscal health and responsibility.
- Preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
- Responsible for review and procurement of the business and health insurance programs.
- Maintenance of insurance/risk protection program.
- Work with VP of Finance to assist in driving growth, organizational development and learning all aspects of the financial department.

Qualifications and Experience:
- CPA designation (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is an asset.
- Familiarity with Jonas Software is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of construction financial processes is an asset.
- Proficiency in financial systems.
- In-depth understanding of Canadian tax regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to provide hands-on support to ensure smooth operations within the accounting team.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Competent in conflict and crisis management.
