Position Summary

The Accounting Assistant provides essential support to the accounting department by performing various clerical and administrative tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. The role will provide support activities aimed at preparing balance sheets, trial balances, accounting classification and consolidation, generating financial reports, preparing electronic spreadsheets and accounting documents (via the system), and maintaining the company's accounting database, in accordance with internal procedures and respecting stipulated deadlines.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Full-time role (30 hours per week), eligible for benefits.

LOCATION:
Requires daily onsite attendance; this is not a remote-work position


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Processing and accounting for Accounts Payable.
  • Processing and accounting for Accounts Receivable and Invoicing.
  • Assisting with the preparation of balance sheets, trial balances, and financial reports.
  • Maintaining and updating accounting records and files.
  • Performing bank reconciliations and managing cashbooks.
  • Assisting with payroll administration on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Processing weekly mass journal reports and processes.
  • Conducting other accounting analyses, assisting with closings and accounting routines.
  • Performing sales files review and CUF management.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High School education or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
