RSM is seeking an experienced professional to join our Technical Accounting Consulting (TAC) practice within the Financial Services Industry team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in insurance and reinsurance accounting, LDTI, US GAAP, and statutory financial reporting requirements and disclosures. Given the changing economies, new accounting policies, and evolving tax regulations, our firm helps clients navigate an ever-changing business landscape. With over 80 years of industry expertise, RSM has assisted thousands of firms in achieving their business objectives. Our financial services clients span various industries, including financial institutions, insurance, specialty finance, and asset management. We serve clients with local, national, or international presence and diverse organizational structures, developing meaningful solutions tailored to their needs.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage multiple concurrent engagements within the TAC practice, providing technical accounting and financial or business advisory guidance to clients.
  2. Demonstrate intermediate to advanced knowledge of complex accounting concepts.
  3. Deliver timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds expectations, including developing and executing work plans and client deliverables.
  4. Collaborate with firm specialists and subject matter experts on complex accounting issues.
  5. Prepare and review technical accounting memos and other client deliverables.
  6. Supervise Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams.
  7. Oversee engagement economics and manage resources efficiently.
  8. Address client concerns proactively and escalate issues as needed; identify opportunities for performance improvement.
  9. Understand RSM's service lines and work collaboratively to provide integrated service delivery.
  10. Mentor, train, and advise team members within the TAC practice to support their career development.
  11. Discuss with client management opportunities to introduce additional services offered by RSM.
  12. Stay informed by reading industry publications and sharing relevant insights with clients.
  13. Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
  14. Assist in business development efforts.
  15. Willingness to travel up to 25% or less, depending on client needs.
Required Qualifications:
  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting or an equivalent field.
  • At least 6 years of recent experience in public accounting, financial reporting, or technical accounting.
  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Strong U.S. GAAP technical accounting foundation, with practical experience in insurance and reinsurance accounting, LDTI, US GAAP, and statutory reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead and deploy staff across multiple engagements.
  • Excellent team and project management skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships.
  • Minimum of 4 years of team leadership or supervisory experience overseeing staff on multiple projects.
