Accounting Analyst

Position Summary :

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Analyst is responsible for working within various accounting fields to compile accurate information, analyze data, and facilitate financial reporting to meet internal, external, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent should be detail-oriented and skilled at managing competing priorities.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Prepare and analyze capital, inventory, and sales-related journal entries and reconciliations accurately.
  • Manage the internal capital approval process, including collaborating with cross-functional departments, verifying accuracy & completeness of Authorization for Expenditure forms, tracking statuses, and calculating ROI on projects.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute all required reports with precision.
  • Lead product traceability under Recall Plan and Business Continuity.
  • Ensure accuracy of QMG vs. third-party inventory systems; investigate and reconcile variances.
  • Manage and analyze inventory balance sheet reconciliations for packaging/dry goods, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Investigate inventory variances by working closely with shipping and planning teams; perform necessary adjustments daily or weekly.
  • Perform month-end reporting, including Meat Variance, Dry Goods, and Dry Goods Turnover reports.
  • Validate CN / DN and adjust inventory for customer returns.
  • Manage and update product costing within QMG.
  • Analyze and prepare value-added journal entries and related reports for operational reporting.
  • Generate and analyze weekly reports such as Credit Note Reports, Sales Analysis, and Destroyed Product reports, ensuring accuracy.
  • Investigate and process destroyed products in QMG.
  • Manage quarterly and year-end inventory counts, including travel to third-party warehouses.
  • Support the finance team during absences.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on initiatives, ensuring continuous analysis and process improvements.
  • Prepare accurate working papers for external audits.
  • Perform other ad hoc projects and analyses as assigned.

Requirements :

A Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5-10 years of progressive experience in administration, accounting, costing, and analysis within a manufacturing environment.

Successful completion of an Accounting designation (CPA) is preferred.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced MS Excel, and familiarity with Windows applications.

Knowledge of financial and operational database ERP systems; experience with AS400 is an asset.

Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent organizational skills to prioritize demands and multi-task effectively.
