Job Description Admin Asst/Accounting

Position Summary:

To provide accounting and administrative support services to Kingston Freedom Ministries.

Finance

  • Ensures all accounts payable (AP) invoices are coded according to the budget and submitted for payment to TSA Finance System in a timely manner.
  • Follows up on AP invoice enquiries from vendors and or staff members.
  • Processes cash receipts and contributions/monetary donations.
  • Prepare and deposit funds to the local bank and enter into the accounting system.
  • Issues tax receipts as required for charitable giving and prepares Thank You letters.
  • Ensures the maintenance and accuracy of ledgers through regular review of ledgers in all departments; drafts and processes journal entries using accounting software
  • Helps prepare for audits
  • Maintains proper records and ensures that all legal requirements are met
  • Responds to routine enquiries both internal and external
  • Tracks/monitors financial activity related to contracts
  • Prepares detailed quarterly billings required by various contracting authorities

Working Conditions

  • Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
  • The performance of the job requires frequent data entry, moderate attention when responding to phone inquiries, and detailed eye work.
  • The performance of the job requires frequent keyboarding and sitting at a desk.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

  • Completion of a formal post-secondary program preferably in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must have a current Police Background Check acceptable to TSA.
  • Must have Reliability Status Clearance.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience is required.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities (i.e., good judgement).
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and sound judgment.
  • Able to work cooperatively in a team setting.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $18.99 to $23.73 with a maximum of $28.48.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
