Job description

Venor is proud to partner with A-Tech Roofing in their search for an Accounting & Admin Manager to join their team based out of their head-office in Dieppe, NB. Built from 10 people to more than 100 — without losing what made it work. A-Tech Roofing is a commercial, industrial, and institutional roofing contractor with a head office in Dieppe and 4 branches across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. A-Tech is still guided by the people who've built it — hands-on ownership, a close-knit office, and a genuine stake in doing right by employees, clients, and the communities they work in across Atlantic Canada. This is a unique opportunity to step into a well-established, well-run operation and work in a high-trust role at the center of it all. Reporting to the General Manager, the Accounting & Admin Manager will oversee company-wide administrative and financial operations, providing leadership to the administrative support team while working closely with other members of the Operations team. This opportunity has arisen as part of a planned transition to retirement, giving the incoming candidate the chance to work directly alongside the current Accounting & Admin Manager for a transition period, as needed. Team members have an unwavering commitment to doing what is right — a value reflected in the company's steady growth and remarkably low turnover.

What You’ll Be Doing
Accounting & Financial Oversight
  • Leading all accounting functions, including AR/AP, job costing, billing, and financial reporting
  • Ensuring accurate month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Maintaining strong internal controls, overseeing reconciliations, and monitoring aging reports and collections
  • Ensuring compliance with sound accounting practices, financial policies, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations
Payroll & HR Administration
  • Overseeing full-cycle weekly payroll with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Managing certified payroll, union requirements, and employment-related documentation, including Records of Employment (ROEs)
  • Maintaining employee records, onboarding processes, and timekeeping accuracy
  • Supporting HR functions such as training documentation, workers' compensation, and labour standards compliance
  • Leading new employee onboarding, including benefits enrollment and related government compliance and payroll setup
Administrative Leadership & Office Management
  • Leading, coaching, and supporting the administrative team of two to ensure high-quality internal and external service
  • Serving as the go-to problem-solver for whatever comes up around the office — from IT hiccups to vendor issues to a process nobody's quite owned — so nothing falls through the cracks
Project Administration & Operational Support
  • Supporting Project Managers and Estimators with job setup, purchase orders, contract documentation, and closeout packages
  • Managing project billing, including monthly invoicing, WCB and statutory declarations, and schedule of values
Government & Regulatory Compliance
  • Serving as Chief Security Officer for government projects, overseeing Employee Reliability Status and overall company compliance
  • Managing government monthly reporting and payments, and overseeing vehicle purchases and registrations
  • Supporting audits, year-end preparation, and tax documentation, and identifying opportunities to streamline processes and adopt improved tools and systems

What we offer

It's a team-oriented environment where "fit" matters as much as technical skill, and the owner is explicit that he wants someone who feels like part of the team, not just a resume that checks boxes. It's a well-run, stable operation to step into rather than a mess to clean up, with monthly books that close cleanly and audits that go smoothly

A supportive succession runway with built-in mentorship and continuity during the transition, easing the learning curve into construction/roofing-specific processes.

Values-driven leadership shows up in practice through Excellence, Quality, Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Reliability, with an owner who's hands-on, invested in getting the hire right.

Total Compensation: This role includes a base salary of $75,000–$85,000, an annual performance-based bonus, a 4% RRSP match (2% minimum employee contribution), fully paid health, drug, and dental coverage, and vacation and holiday time that exceeds provincial minimums.

At Venor and A-Tech Roofing, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace. No matter who you are, where you're from, how you think, what you believe in, or who you love, we welcome your application. We all come from different backgrounds and different walks of life, bringing in unique perspectives and experiences.

We encourage applications from 2SLGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC), women, newcomers to Canada, and people with disabilities.
