Overview

Accountant - Temporary Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance Group. Reporting to the Regional Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for full cycle accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting of the assigned entity specific results while working to improve understanding of key business drivers. Identification and implementation of best practices comprise a key component of this role, as well as ensuring effective controls in the financial management reporting systems. This role is responsible for coordinating and preparing accurate monthly reports, capital and other financial information. Excellent skills in financial analysis and a good understanding of IFRS accounting standards is also essential.

This position is with Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division, a global leader in perception, positioning, autonomy and site orchestration technologies to enable the full autonomous solution for agriculture, mining, automotive and marine positioning.

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta.

Responsibilities

As anAccountant, you will:

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing and reporting process
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to team members to solve daily transactional issues
  • Continuously evaluate accounting processes and provide feedback to effectively maintain and design controls
  • Review and prepare various finance working papers
  • Perform treasury tasks like payment approvals, cash management, etc
  • Participate in performing ad hoc analysis and other duties as required
  • Overseeing adherence to company policies
  • Perform accounting research and implement new accounting standards, as necessary
  • Assist in accounting related implementation and configuration of new systems, as required
Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Accounting Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting
  • Experience and understanding of various accounting functions like A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, Treasury, Financial Reporting
  • Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Proficient MS Office skills including the ability to use pivot table and simple macros as well as the ability to work with and analyze large data sets
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, organized, reliable, enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to work independently when required
