Job Description

P&C is seeking a detail oriented, focused, and energetic accountant in the Sudbury, Ontario office that will work closely with our North American Finance Manager to lead the day-to-day accounting activities in our Canadian practice. This is an in-office role with an approximate start-date of June 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting tasks including reconciling the general ledger accounts, maintaining prepaids and capital asset schedules, review accounts payable/receivable subledgers, and complete bank reconciliations
  • Maintain monthly working papers and record monthly journal entries
  • Generate draft invoices for issue to project managers and work collaboratively with project managers to process and send invoices to clients
  • Review and posting of customer invoices and employee expenses
  • Support cash management, including recording payments and cash receipts
  • Support month-end close and assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Support year-end close, tax information preparation, and annual audit
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance
  • Assist with other accounting related duties as required

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or accounting diploma
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience. Experience at a consulting engineering firm is considered an asset
  • Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel. Experience with Deltek VantagePoint is considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management abilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks and effectively meet deadlines
  • Established ability to work independently and solve problems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit a high degree of ethical standards
