Job summary

Swim Recruiting is seeking a confident, adaptable Accountant for a Vancouver-based real estate developer. The role covers full-cycle accounting for a large mixed-asset portfolio.

You will prepare financial statements, close monthly, perform CAM and bank reconciliations, variance analysis, budgeting, and consolidation of summary reports. A passion for real estate, strong Excel skills, and attention to detail are essential for success in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years recent and relevant full-cycle property accounting experience within a commercial real estate company.
• Experience using a sophisticated accounting system such as Yardi.
• CPA designation or seriously pursuing CPA designation, is preferred but not necessarily required.
• Computer savvy, with strong intermediate-level Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounting responsibilities including financial statement preparation.
• Month-end close, CAM reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
• Variance analysis, budgeting, and consolidation of summary reports.
• Work with a very large, complex mixed-asset portfolio (commercial, retail, residential, strata).

What- the Role:

Our client is seeking a confident, adaptable, and self-motivated individual to join their dynamic team. The new Accountant will be responsible for a variety of full-cycle accounting responsibilities including financial statement preparation, month-end close, CAM reconciliations and bank reconciliations, variance analysis, budgeting, consolidation of summary reports, etc. for a very interesting and complex mixed-asset portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity for accountants who are eager to work in a fast-paced, friendly, and successful corporate environment. A passion for real estate is key! This role has great variety, and it is a crucial part of this fast-paced, high-performing, and close-knit team. There is opportunity to learn from great mentors in accounting & finance as well as other departments and to grow long-term with the company. The portfolio the new Accountant will be responsible for is very large and complex, with mixed asset classes (mostly large commercial & retail, but also some residential & strata) and a good deal of projected future growth. There is opporutinty for this role to be titled Senior Accountant, for someone very qualified for the role with 5+ years of relevant/progressive experience in real estate accounting/property accounting.

How Much:

Very competitive base salary commensurate with experience and skills, plus benefits, vacation, CPA & Professional Development financial support, etc. likely in the range of $80,000 to $95,000, perhaps with some upwards wiggle room for someone very senior in property accounting.
