Accountant- Onsite Position- Defense Manufacturing

We have a great opportunity for an Accountant at our world class facility in Ottawa, ON.

As our Accountant, you will be providing support to the Manager of Accounting in the areas of Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable and General Accounting for the CW Defense Solutions Division.

Vendor balance / discrepancy inquiries / reviews including resolution

Month end activities including JV preparations, account reconciliations, AP accrual review, etc.

Capital Equipment tracking, reporting and audit coordination

Liaison between BU finance, corporate finance and other BU functions

Involved in annual business planning / budgeting processes for specific BU cost centers

Payroll record reconciliation between Workday and ERP system

Payroll related reporting for corporate

Responsible for other various corporate reporting schedules related to job functions (monthly / quarterly)

Various general accounting functions

Ad hoc requests

What You Bring :

Thorough understanding of general accounting principles and practices

Experience in Account Receivables / Accounts Payables

Must be able to work with Excel / Word, PowerPoint, and Teams / Outlook

Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Able to work effectively individually and as part of a cross functional, international team

Ability to develop and write procedures

Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting discrepancies

Excellent analytical skills to collect data, understand significance, explain issues and recommend solutions

Excellent technical ability, including ability to work with integrated ERP systems preferable

SAP expertise

Has understanding of and commitment to ethical practices in accounting

Examines assigned accounting documents to verify accuracy of computations and uniform application of policies, procedures, and acceptable accounting standards

Reviews and verifies accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records

Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and other accounting statements and reports

Reviews, coordinates, and provides documentation to support various internal and external audit requirements

Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings

May design, modify, install, and / or maintain general accounting systems to provide records of assets, liabilities, and financial statements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

A post-secondary diploma / degree from a college or university in Accounting and or Business

2-4 years of related experience preferably in a manufacturing or high technology environment
