The Opportunity:

We are seeking to fill two (2) positions: one permanent full-time and one term full-time for 18 months. The Accountant II will handle financial statement preparation, analysis, internal controls, general ledger maintenance, and subsidiary operations. Responsibilities include:

  1. Completing accurate account and bank reconciliations monthly/quarterly, investigating discrepancies
  2. Maintaining the general ledger and preparing journal entries
  3. Preparing and analyzing financial reports, including statements of financial position and operations, and communicating results
  4. Managing files and reports related to grants, reserves, debt, and assets
  5. Preparing year-end financial statements, notes, and working papers
  6. Engaging with departments for financial note validation and allocations
  7. Preparing year-end entries, consolidation adjustments, and tax returns
  8. Reviewing processes for efficiency improvements
  9. Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and legislative updates
  10. Collaborating with external auditors and providing backup within the team
  11. Handling treasury functions such as cash and investments tracking

You Bring:

  • CPA designation (Chartered Professional Accountant of Canada)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, or Finance
  • At least 5 years of financial accounting experience, including reporting and consolidation
  • Preferred: auditing experience, knowledge of PSAS, municipal government, and not-for-profit sectors
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, systems, and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain confidentiality
