Reporting to the Controller of Hospitality, the Accountant (Hospitality) is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, monitoring of the annual budget, assisting with forecasting, cash management, event reporting and other duties as outlined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Bank reconciliations and postings
- Monthly journal entries : Record all revenues, expenses and accruals
- Manage monthly intercompany reconciliations for our 10+ entities and work with each entity’s accountant to resolve any discrepancies
- Allocate all event costs to the appropriate departments and / or entities
- Oversee month end inventory counts and reconciliations in Yellow Dog
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and working papers
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements
- Prepare YTD actual vs budget reports on the department’s revenues & expenses, monitor & analyze the data and raise awareness on any material variances to operations manager
- Prepare monthly tax filings for GST, PST
- Work closely with accounts payable to assist with GL coding and payment inquiries
- Approve employee expense claims in SAP Concur, ensuring proper back-up, manager approvals, and GL coding are provided to finance. Post expense claim entries into our accounting system
- Assist in the preparation of the next fiscal year operating budget
- Assist with the annual year end audit preparation
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :
- 3+ years general accounting experience, with experience in preparing financial statements and account analysis
- Post-secondary education with a focus in accounting
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, MS Word, Outlook, D365 or other accounting systems
- Some experience with inventory accounting and working with Yellow Dog or an inventory system
- Strong work ethic, loyalty, and dedication is expected
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Speed and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to various members of the Leadership Team
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment under strict time deadlines
- A team player with a strong customer service focus
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
