Food World Plus is seeking an Accountant to manage full-cycle inventory and retail accounting in Mississauga. The role covers inventory counts, reconciliations, retail sales accounting, vendor transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records.

You will work in-office with store management and vendors, handle GST/HST compliance, month-end close, and prepare inventory and financial reports for management.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of accounting experience in grocery/retail.
• Experience with inventory counts and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel and accounting software skills (QuickBooks, Sage, ERP).
• Familiarity with GST/HST in Canada.
• Attention to detail and analytical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Accountant – Full Cycle Inventory & Retail

Job Summary

Food World Plus is looking for a detail-oriented Accountant with experience in inventory and retail accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for inventory counts, reconciliations, retail sales accounting, vendor transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support full-cycle inventory counting and reconciliation.
• Conduct physical inventory counts and investigate variances.
• Reconcile inventory between physical counts, POS, and accounting systems.
• Track inventory adjustments, shortages, damages, and shrinkage.
• Review purchase orders, receiving records, and vendor invoices.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform daily sales and POS reconciliations.
• Reconcile cash, debit/credit card, and other retail transactions.
• Maintain accurate general ledger and inventory records.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare journal entries and accounting adjustments.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare inventory and financial reports for management.
• Assist with GST/HST and other accounting requirements.
• Work with store management, purchasing, receiving, and vendors to resolve discrepancies.

Experience/Qualifications

• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in grocery, supermarket, or retail.
• Experience with inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation.
• Knowledge of inventory accounting, COGS, AP, AR, and general ledger.
• Experience with retail POS and inventory systems.
• Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, ERP, or similar accounting software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Knowledge of Canadian accounting and GST/HST is an asset.
