A leading staffing agency in Ontario is seeking an experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper for a primarily remote position that includes on-site meetings in downtown Toronto. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience, advanced QuickBooks skills, and a strong ability to work independently as well as in a team. This role involves handling diverse accounting functions and participating in special projects. Immediate hiring is available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a varied Bookkeeper or Financial Accountant capacity required.
  • Complete post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Asset to those who have worked in a multi-business firm.
  • Advanced QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience required.
  • Highly detailed and strengths with math/calculations as well as strong follow up skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review daily accounts receivable cash postings.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the development, tracking, and analysis of budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce financial risk and improve cash management.

Accountant / Bookkeeper job opening in Ontario (remote)

Adecco Professional is currently partnering with a client to hire for an Accountant / Bookkeeper job opening in Toronto, ON - note that this role is primarily remote however it requires flexibility to meet up on-site downtown Toronto at times. This back-fill maternity leave opportunity will have your working a variety of accounting functions while getting involved in various industry specific tasks for the next 10-12 months. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years' experience working in a bookkeeper or financial accountant position combined with a flexible and can-do personality. As a key member of the small accounting team, you will help with daily accounting functions and maintain accurate financial records, enhance internal controls, and contribute to strategic financial planning where needed. Your responsibilities will include :

Treasury Operations

  • Monitor and review daily accounts receivable cash postings
  • Record daily bank transactions and perform timely bank reconciliations
  • Manage Positive Pay uploads to ensure secure payment processing

General Ledger Management

  • Prepare and maintain detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including fixed assets, accruals, prepaids, and payroll-related liabilities
  • Analyze and investigate general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Perform intercompany account reconciliations and support system integrations (e.g., QuickBooks Online, ADP)
  • Process employee expense reports using Expensify
  • Accounts Payable Oversight

  • Supervise vendor accounts payable processes and review invoice batches for accuracy and compliance
  • Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Assist in the development, tracking, and analysis of budgets and forecasts
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on operational performance data
  • Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Support the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
  • Assist with external audits, including financial, workers' compensation, and PEO audits
  • Process Improvement & Special Projects

  • Identify opportunities to reduce financial risk and improve cash management
  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal controls and accounting processes
  • Participate in special projects such as system implementations and client account reconciliations
  • The qualifications for the Accountant / Bookkeeper job opening in Ontario include :

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a varied Bookkeeper or Financial Accountant capacity required
