Job summary

David Aplin Recruiting has partnered with a well-established Alberta organization to hire an Intermediate Accountant for a 6-month contract. This CPA-led role offers a mix of financial reporting, month-end analysis, process improvement, and special projects in a collaborative environment.

After an initial training period in the office, this role provides a flexible hybrid schedule with only 1–3 in-office days per month.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end experience.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
• Experience preparing audit working papers and supporting year-end processes.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and working papers.
• Support financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
• Assist with year-end financial statements and audit preparation.
• Analyze financial data and provide reporting to support business decisions.
• Support treasury, cash management, and tax-related activities as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Participate in finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
