Winpak Division is seeking an Accountant to join the Finance team based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, you will play a key role in managing daily and monthly general accounting functions, providing critical accounting analysis, and contributing to the accuracy and timeliness of the Winpak Division's consolidated financial statements. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the integrity of transactions posted to the general ledger by managing various management information systems, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory for the Canadian, US, and Mexican segments.
- Maintain bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and business reporting units.
- Prepare and record payroll journal entries and analyze payroll clearing accounts monthly.
- Reconcile and maintain prepaid accounts, supplier rebate accruals, and monthly inventory work-in-process and volume variances.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for various expenses, including warehouse sales, freight, artwork charges, operating supplies, and departmental reclassifications.
- Reconcile monthly sales reports from COGNOS with the general ledger and assist with year-end audit preparation.
- Support the review of departmental expenditures, investigate variances, and assist with internal/external reporting, including US State filings and tax payments.
Required Qualifications- Post-secondary education in accounting (Degree or diploma or completion of an equivalent training program in accounting)
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting role, with a preference for experience in the manufacturing industry
- 3+ years of experience with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
- 3+ years of experience in engaging effectively within the finance and accounting team
- Ability to work onsite full time
Preferred Qualifications- 3+ years of experience working independently with minimal supervision, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately within tight deadlines
- 3+ years of experience demonstrating strong communication (both verbal and written), and organizational skills.
- 3+ years of experience working with ERP systems and management information systems to ensure data integrity in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.
