RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with Manager to ensure accurate and complete recording of transactions
2. Provide any financial information requested by shareholders and Manager
3. Record bank transactions and reconcile bank accounts
1. Accounts Payable
- record all expenses
- monitor receipt of invoices for monthly, quarterly and annual recurring expenses
2. Accounts Receivable
1- record lease income and ensure agreement to lease agreements
- record royalty income per monthly statements
- prepare invoices to lessees for property taxes, insurance etc
3. Payroll
1- calculate source deductions and monthly source deduction remittance amounts
4. Prepare quarterly GST returns and reconcile to accounts
5. Fixed Assets
- assess whether expenditures are an expense or fixed asset
- Maintain fixed asset spreadsheet, calculate amortization and any gains or losses on disposal of assets
6. Investment Income
- Record income per statements
- Reconcile investment account balances to statement balances
7. Loans
- Record principal and interest payments per monthly statements and reconcile to loan balance
8. Shareholder Draw Accounts
- Monitor for accuracy and completeness
- Obtain instructions from shareholders regarding quarterly personal tax instalment amounts
9. Corporate Tax Assessments - review, record and reconcile to tax account balances
10. Respond to any requests for information from CRA eg audits
Quarterly Reporting
- Prepare quarterly statements for review - trial balance, comparative income statement with notes for major differences between account balances, shareholder loan accounts detail
- Calculate and record quarterly accruals for expenses and income
Year End
- Work with Company's accounting firm by
Preparing package for accountants including:
- Trial Balance
- General Ledger Detail
11. Prepare accounts payable cheques and ensured all invoices were paid on time.
12. Prepared salary cheques
13. Source deductions - filed and paid monthly remittances with CRA
14. GST - filed and paid quarterly with CRA
15. Paid shareholder quarterly instalments to CRA
16. Paid corporate tax instalments as determined required after consultation with shareholders and accountant
17. Maintained files of financial information
18. During construction projects - set up and maintained spread sheet of costs, progress payments etc.
