We are seeking a candidate with hands-on experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role. Experience as a volunteer treasurer for a non-profit organization would be an asset.

Calvary is a local ministry with historic ties to the long-standing Beach community in Toronto.

We are an open and friendly, culturally inclusive congregation benefiting from multi-generational participation. A dedicated group of volunteers take initiative in supporting worship service and other ministries. We are a congregation committed to outreach ministries in the community, which includes a care centre that provides support for families and individuals in need (including a food bank) as well as a rural retreat centre that hosts programmes for church groups and youth in southern Ontario, offering a healthy, outdoor, Christian experience in a beautiful setting.

Preferred Skills

The candidate should have hands-on accounting experience. Skills required:

1. Experienced bookkeeper with knowledge of the full accounting cycle, including payroll, month and year-end reporting
2. Experience preparing statutory (CRA) filings (T4, T3010)
3. Ability to develop and monitor budgets
4. Knowledge of fund accounting
5. Ability to work with employees as well as volunteers in a small environment with modest resources
6. Good analytical skills
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to report financial matters in a clear, concise and accessible manner
8. Knowledge of Windows/MSWord/Outlook/Excel
9. Experience with banking and treasury
10. Knowledge of Power Church an asset
