WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR :

As we continue to build our finance team, we are looking for an individual contributor to own our accounting operations. The ideal candidate is an ambitious, detail-oriented professional enthusiastic about financial management with experience in maintaining accurate financial records. We need someone with operational skills, experience in financial environments, a solid grasp of accounting best practices, and extensive knowledge of accounting software and tools.

The right individual must have impeccable organizational skills to manage daily finance operations, including working with financial tools, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports. Since we are a small team, we seek a self-starter who can make progress independently, understands the strategy and goals, and executes plans effectively.

This role offers a unique opportunity to be a key member of our finance team, helping shape the financial health and strategy of our company. You will have input into financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, and will ensure our financial operations run smoothly. You will be encouraged to bring ideas, work diligently, and proactively solve problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Accounting (70%) :

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payments
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage general ledger entries
  • Maintain deferred revenue, prepaids, accruals, and depreciation worksheets
  • Prepare financial reports and assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards

Administrative (30%) :

  • Assist with tasks such as travel bookings and procurement
  • Handle HR-related tasks such as maintaining hardware asset lists and benefit management
  • Manage forms and documents for various projects, including grant programs and template updates
  • Support other administrative tasks as needed

SUCCESS CRITERIA FOR THIS ROLE :

  • Post-secondary credentials in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Having or working towards a professional accounting designation is an asset
  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting coordination, full-cycle accounting, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with B2B or SaaS companies is a plus
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), SharePoint, and customer platforms such as HubSpot, Maxio/Chargify, ChargeBee
  • Experience with maintaining books, month-end closing, and preparing financial statements
  • Ability to maintain organized electronic records and files
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn
