Job summary

Qualico is seeking an Accountant to join our team in Surrey. You will report to the Assistant Controller and handle accounting activities for the assigned companies, providing accounting services and expertise to support the business.

Responsibilities include posting journal entries, preparing monthly statements, reconciling accounts, and assisting in year-end reviews and budgeting. Strong organization, communication, and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of accounting experience.
  • Criminal record check verification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software (NewStar) or similar.
  • Enrollment in CPA program is an asset.
  • Experience in home building or development industry is an asset.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, as the Accountantyou will handle accounting activities for the assigned companies. You provide accounting services and expertise that contribute to the success of the company.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Posting journal entries for accounts payables, accounts receivables, and other general transactions.
  • Preparing monthly financial statements, reconciling balance sheets and bank accounts; investigating and resolving discrepancies when required.
  • Examining documents and financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards.
  • Developing and maintaining internal control procedures.
  • Completing reports and analysis to summarize status and trends for internal stakeholders.
  • Assisting in year-end reviews, forecasting and budget preparations.
  • Providing support to other accounting related activities as required.

  • Prior experience in the home building or development industry is an asset.

Work Conditions

You primarily work in an office setting during regular business hours. Overtime may occasionally be required.
