Applies conceptual knowledge of accounting and with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward accounting problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures, as well as building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Accountant understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations through analysis of possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Three-four (3-4) years of relevant experience with a focus on GST
Strong understanding of GST laws and regulations.
Proven experience in preparing and submitting GST returns.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit accurate GST returns and filings, meeting the required deadlines.
Ensure compliance with all Canadian GST laws and regulations.
Conduct monthly GST reconciliations.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of GST transactions.
Provide/seek guidance on GST implications for business activities.
Stay updated on changes in GST legislation and implement necessary adjustments.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during GST audits including support of requests.
Communicate with the Corporate Tax Department in Houston on the GST filings and reconciliations.
Assist in the development and improvement of GST processes and procedures.
Depending on level of activity, accountant may also support accounting team with ad-hoc accounting processes to support the site accounting processes.
Occasional provision of assistance related to the quarterly Canada tax provision process and annual income tax filings.
Address other Canada tax items as applicable (PST, Withholding tax).
