Seven West Media is seeking a detailed focussed Accountant to join our Finance team on a 14-month fixed term contract covering maternity leave from November. This role is perfectly suited to someone actively working towards their CPA designation looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in a fast paced and commercially focussed environment.

You will play a key role within the Financial Accounting team, collaborating closely with senior leaders to ensure the smooth execution of financial operations. Your focus will be on delivering timely and accurate monthly financial results for entities within the West Australian Newspaper Group.

About the Role:

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Monthly Financial Reporting:
    • Creating and processing journals
    • Performing reconciliations (Bank & Balance Sheet)
    • Analysing financial results to drive key business insights
    • Calculating prepayments, accruals, and cost allocations
    • Managing intercompany recharges with Group entities
  • Compliance and Taxation Support:
    • Approving corporate credit card finances
    • Assisting with half year and year end audit queries
    • Preparing FBT schedules to support Group submission of returns
    • Supporting income tax schedules and BAS reporting
  • Ad Hoc Projects:
    • Supporting team with fixed asset and Telethon accounting
    • Other ad hoc accounting tasks
About You:

You’re a motivated, detail-oriented professional with a passion for accounting and problem-solving. You’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or currently working towards your CA/CPA)
  • Demonstrated industry experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Expertise in Excel and financial reporting
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A keen eye for detail and the drive to deliver high-quality work
  • Excellent communication and professional presentation skills
