Hazelwood Finance, a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time Accountant to join our team in Nanaimo, BC.

We’re looking for Accountants who want to experience more than just audit. In this role, you’ll trade audit files for real business problem-solving, working directly with managers, supporting business strategy, and gaining hands-on experience across industries like construction, manufacturing, and real estate. You’ll partner with managers and operators, be part of a collaborative cross-functional team, and build practical decision-making experience that makes a real impact on businesses.

Compensation
  • 50,000 to $70,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Do
  • Own full-cycle accounting and month-end reporting for multiple companies
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements with variance analysis
  • Contribute to budgets, forecasts, and business plans
  • Support managers with financial insights to guide decision-making
  • Maintain year-end working papers and coordinate with external accountants
  • Jump in on projects across our businesses where finance expertise is needed
What You Bring :
  • CPA designation (or working toward it)
  • 1 – 3 years’ public practice audit or assurance experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and reporting
  • Comfort with accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks an asset)
  • The ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial managers
  • A desire to grow your career in industry and expand beyond audit
