_*Mid Island Co-op is hiring an Accountant at our Administration Office in Nanaimo, BC*_Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in Finance? Do you have excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment? This may be the job for you!*Things you?ll do:*Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accountant leads general accounting activities through the analysis and preparation of financial reports and statements. This includes the preparation of journal entries/ledgers, fixed asset and inventory accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, reconciliation, and/or financial statement consolidation. This position may lead a small team of accounting clerks and works across multiple areas of accounting based on the changing needs of the business, and you will represent Mid Island Co-op by being an ambassador and demonstrating our values of Excellence, Community, and Teamwork.Apply to become an Accountant today if you have post-secondary education in Accounting, Commerce or Business (CPA designation or working towards designation would be considered an asset) and 1-4 years of progressive accounting experience. You also have hands-on experience with full cycle accounting (direct participation in month-end and year-end accounting activities), financial analysis & reporting and budgeting. Retail or petroleum accounting experience would be considered an asset. You have intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs with advanced level Excel skills - experience with JD Edwards accounting systems would be considered an asset.*Who we are:*Mid Island Co-op is a different kind of business.
