Job summary

Domtar in Saint-Hubert, QC, seeks a Sustainable Development Advisor to drive recycling initiatives and sustainability services for national and local clients. You will coordinate programs, conduct assessments, and support business development while closely collaborating with Operations, Sales, and Account Management.

Candidates should have a degree in environmental studies or related fields, knowledge of LEED/BOMA Best, and proficiency with Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

  • A college or university degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience in the recycling industry and Certified Waste Auditor certification are assets.
  • Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as LEED, BOMA Best, and similar programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, and Copilot.
  • Fluency in English and French.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain recycling programs for national and local clients to improve quality and increase waste diversion.
  • Conduct waste and recycling assessments to identify opportunities for greater material recovery and support business development activities.
  • Support clients through site assessments, training sessions, quarterly reporting, and ongoing sustainability services.
  • Plan and conduct waste audits and support the development and implementation of waste reduction action plans.
  • Manage non-conformance issues and ensure timely resolution in collaboration with operations teams.
  • Prepare diversion reports and support Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Management, and Operations teams while monitoring recycling legislation, emerging sustainability trends, and contract compliance through material audits.

Your Role

What you bring

You're a natural fit for Sustainable Development Advisor if you have:

  • A college or university degree in environmental studies, sustainable development, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience in the recycling industry and Certified Waste Auditor certification are assets.
  • Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as LEED, BOMA Best, and similar programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, and Copilot.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Access to a vehicle, willingness to travel approximately 10% to Ottawa, Ontario, and fluency in both English and French.
