Job summary

AMMEGA CANADA INC. is hiring a Staff Accountant for its Mississauga or Edmonton location. Hybrid work schedule; 40 hours weekly. The role handles full-cycle accounting across US businesses with emphasis on accuracy, controls, and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of accounting experience in manufacturing or industrial settings, plus IFRS knowledge and ERP system proficiency. Benefits included.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in accounting or finance.
  • 1–3 years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Public accounting experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS (fundamental knowledge; advanced is a plus).
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, posting to ledgers and reconciling trial balance accounts.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support capital asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and journal entries.
  • Contract administration and asset tracking.
  • Partner with Country Financial Director to support forecasting and budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Support cross-functional finance activities (AP, AR, banking, month-end close, reconciliations).
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and internal controls; perform internal audit procedures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and required training.

Job description

Staff Accountant (Mississauga or Edmonton location)

The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting activities across all US businesses ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely completion of key accounting processes.

Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including recording transactions in journals and posting to ledgers and reconciling trial balance accounts
  • Prepare and deliver financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Core Accounting Areas involvement
  • Cash and banking activities
  • International accounts receivable
  • Accounts payable
  • Inventory accounting
  • Fixed assets accounting
Fixed Assets and Leases
  • Support capital asset accounting, including additions and disposals and depreciation calculations and journal entries
  • Contract administration

Financial Planning: partner with the Country Financial Director to support forecasting and budgeting and financial analysis

Operations & Collaboration
  • Support cross-functional finance activities, including AP, AR, banking, month-end close, and reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
Controls & Compliance
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and internal controls
  • Perform internal audit procedures as requested
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and required training
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Public accounting experience is an asset
Technical Skills
  • Working knowledge of IFRS (fundamental knowledge required; advanced is a plus)
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (required)

Job Conditions
  • Job Location: Ammega Canada Inc. - Mississauga OR Edmonton location.
  • Days of work: Monday to Friday - Hybrid work.
  • Salary: $62k to $72k CAD annually (depending on profile & relevant experience)
