Job summary

A leading company in the gaming industry is seeking an Accountant to ensure effective internal reporting and compliance with IFRS. The successful candidate will work closely with the finance team and handle various accounting duties, including month-end reconciliations and GST filings. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and possess a college degree. Experience in the restaurant industry is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience.
• Working towards a professional accounting designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Weekly WCLC posting and VLT posting.
• GST filings for two legal entities by the 20th of the month.
• Month-end duties including balance sheet account reconciliations.

Job description

The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Accounting, and interact with our Company’s Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, the Accounting and Finance department, and liaise with other internal and external stakeholders. They will ensure internal reporting is effective, timely, and accurate; corporate assets are safeguarded; and IFRS and other requirements are appropriately complied with. The Accountant position is located at our Corporate head office at Casino Edmonton.

Job Duties

• Weekly WCLC posting
• Weekly VLT posting
• Weekly deposits
• GST filings for two legal entities by the 20th of the month
• Month-end duties including:
• Amex Payments and expenses
• Inventory entries
• Other accruals and expense entries as needed
• Balance sheet account reconciliations
• Other duties as required

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience
• Experience in the restaurant industry is an asset
• College or university degree
• Working towards a professional accounting designation is an asset
• Strong knowledge of computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Self-directed with high rigor and accountability
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
• Ability to stay focused under pressure, prioritize, and multitask
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
