Job Summary:

YWCA Edmonton is seeking an experienced Accountant to handle the operational accounting tasks for the organization. The accountant will be responsible for reconciling GL accounts, processing payroll and will contribute to the overall success of the Finance and Operations department. The successful candidate has proven problem solving skills, attention to detail and a high level of accounting knowledge.

Hours of work:

Part-time or Full-time (30 to 37.5) hours typically between Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on assigned day-to-day activities in compliance with GAAP, regulations and statutory legislation, financial and human resources policies, and YWCA Edmonton’s values.
  • Maintain the accuracy of all key financial documentation including GL, sub-GLs, chart of accounts, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis. This includes budgets and financial statements.
  • Adhere to and advise employees on adequate financial and cash controls, monitor compliance with company policies
  • Assist with year-end audit, interim audit, and complete working papers.
  • Complete grant reporting as required.
  • Oversee the associations payroll and complete payroll journals on a semi-monthly basis and complete payroll year-end in Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Ensure the maintenance of confidentiality with respect to financial and personnel records.
  • Assist with other accounting duties as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • Completion of a university degree and accounting designation (CPA). Experience in place of education may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience with demonstrated success of reconciliation and completion of financial statements
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience required
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting software (Sage 300)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Solution-focused and the ability to proactively identify and manage challenges.
  • Passion for the mission and work of YWCA Edmonton.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • High level of professionalism and adherence to confidentiality.
