Job summary

Alamos Gold Inc. is seeking an Accountant for the Island Gold District in Dubreuilville, ON. You will support operational decision-making, optimize financial systems, coordinate processing, and drive accurate financial reporting.

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, you will participate in month-end close, budgeting, audits, and variance analyses while ensuring IFRS compliance and cost control across the mining operation. A CPA-aspiring candidate with mining finance exposure is valued.

Qualifications

  • Graduate BBA/BCOMM in Accounting; CPA designation considered an asset.
  • Experience in operational accounting or finance, preferably mining/manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in IFRS concepts and financial reporting.
  • Excel proficiency; SAP experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Be a safety leader; adhere to safety protocols.
  • Assist with month-end close; prepare and record assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses.
  • Provide financial data and perform cost analyses to identify opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Explain and mentor department heads on financial performance vs. plans.
  • Assist in budgets and forecasts; review and validate financial reports.

Role Overview/Purpose:

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Accountant is responsible for supporting operational decision-making, optimizing the use of financial systems, coordinating transaction processing, and financial reporting activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be a safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety protocols and procedures
  • Assist with the month end close process with the preparation and recording of assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Provide financial data and perform cost analyses to find opportunities, efficiencies, and waste which may include trend and variance analysis
  • Explain and mentor department heads on their financial performance versus plans
  • Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Review and validate financial reports and respond to financial queries
  • Assist in the development of the departments Standard Policies and Procedures
  • Support the annual audit process through liaison with external and internal auditors
  • Ad-hoc tasks as required

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Graduate BBA/ BCOMM in Accounting (working towards CPA designation considered an asset)
  • Previous experience in operational accounting or finance, preferably within a mining or manufacturing environment would be highly regarded
  • Analysis and reporting experience
  • Financial accounting experience and International Financial Reporting Standards knowledge or experience is an asset
  • Excellent digital literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite®: Outlook, Word, and Excel. ERP systems experience, SAP, is an asset

Working Conditions:

The schedule for this position is based at one of the two office locations working on a 7-7 rotation schedule or 4/3 rotation. Some remote work or hybrid schedule may be available based on business needs.
