Job summary

Alamos Gold Inc. is seeking a Mine Supervisor – Underground Operations in the Island Gold District, Dubreuilville, Ontario. You will lead underground development, production and haulage, ensuring safety and alignment with mine plans and company policies.

The role reports to the Mine Captain and emphasizes team development and operational excellence. We value safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement, with a camp-based schedule: 7 days on/off, rotating shifts, and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of underground mining experience, with 2–5 years in a production role.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-secondary education in a mining-related field.
  • Supervisory or crew leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, equipment and practices.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and oversee underground development, production and haulage.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

As the Mine Supervisor – Underground Operations, reporting to the Mine Captain, you will provide technical guidance and day-to-day leadership to underground operations. You will oversee development, production, and haulage activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with mine plans, company policies, and regulatory requirements. This role is critical in driving operational performance, team development, and a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership: Plan, coordinate, and execute underground development, production, and haulage activities to meet production schedules and mining plans. Monitor performance and initiate corrective actions as required.

Team Supervision & Development: Direct, coach, and support underground crews, including organizing daily and weekly safety meetings, delegating work assignments, mentoring employees, and contributing to team growth and succession.

Safety, Health & Environment: Lead by example and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental standards, and emergency response procedures. Promote continuous improvement in safe work practices.

Technical & Operational Support: Provide complex technical support to underground operations, resolve operational issues, and support the implementation of new practices, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.

Coordination & Communication: Coordinate activities with maintenance teams and service groups to align operational and maintenance priorities. Serve as a key communication link between crews and management.

Reporting & Documentation: Ensure accurate production records, reports, employee documentation, and compliance-related documentation are completed in a timely manner.

What You Bring to the Table

  • College or technical education equivalent to approximately three years of post-secondary study.
  • Formal professional certification or designation in a relevant mining discipline.
  • More than 10 years of underground mining experience, including 2–5 years as a production equipment operator or lead hand.
  • Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, equipment, and operating practices.
  • Proven ability to work independently, anticipate operational needs, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
