Accountant – Dartmouth Area - £: Package based on experience

Sometimes writing a job advert is easy. You’ve probably seen a thousand examples of roles outlining the same list of standard responsibilities.

This advert isn’t like that, quite simply because this isn’t a ‘standard’ role.

We are delighted to have been exclusively re-engaged by one our long-standing clients, one of South Devon’s fastest growing manufacturers. As the company continues to grow, so does its accounting function and they now seek to recruit an experienced Accountant to join them in a newly created role.

This will be a full-time, permanent position and will be based from the company HQ which is close to Dartmouth.

Now comes the part of the advert where you would normally expect to see a list of bullet points, outlining exactly what this role will involve.

The truth is, the dynamic nature of the business and the varied nature of the role makes creating that list very difficult. But that’s no bad thing, in fact we think that makes this a particularly exciting opportunity!

What we can tell you is that this role will work closely with an experienced and friendly Finance Manager and will join a small but highly efficient finance team. This role won’t be focussed on one particular area, it will vary day-to-day depending on the business needs. One day might require the successful candidate to create bespoke spreadsheets, the next may involve analysing costs and assisting with budgets. It could be preparing year-end reports for auditors, dealing with import/export documents and everything in-between.

Who’s up to the challenge? Possibly, but not essentially someone who is professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), but most certainly somebody with the experience and knowledge to face the dynamic roles and responsibilities as required. You’ll need strong knowledge in statutory frameworks and very strong IT skills. This role could even be suitable for someone looking to move out of a practice environment and into commerce. It’s going to be a challenging, but extremely rewarding position where the successful candidate will be an essential point of contact for all queries and support assistance.
